Founded in 1940, BLT is a thriving, leading not-for-profit theatre company who stage at least 10 plays a year in their very own little theatre in the heart of Brighton, and at the Brighton Open Air Theatre.
BLT owns and manages their our own venue – a 71 seater main auditorium with a proscenium arch stage, a fully licenced bar, and a downstairs studio performance area. The theatre was built in 1833 and has served as an infant school, mission house, art school and gallery until 1940 when it was bought by the Brighton Little Theatre Company.
The company is made up of a membership of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who strive to produce a consistently high standard of theatre. All sets are designed and made in house, plus a costume store and workshop/garage space. A team of willing volunteers designs and builds the sets, rigs the lights, makes the costumes, mans the bar, cleans the building etc.
BLT offer open auditions (you’re required to join if cast) and always welcomes new members, including the Youth group.
